72′ Camaro SS

72 Camaro SS

This 1972 Camaro Super Sport has been owned by Gary Grant since 2000, though his connection to the car goes back much further — he first saw it at just 16 years old and knew he had to have it someday. Built on March 28, 1972, at the Norwood, Ohio plant, this Camaro is powered by a 402 cubic inch V8 engine, referred to as a “396″ producing 240 horsepower with a 4-barrel Turbo-Jet carburetor. Paired with a 3-speed automatic TH400 transmission, this car represents the final year the SS package and Big Block engine options were available.

Originally sold new at Mussallem Garage Ltd. in Maple Ridge, this Camaro came well-optioned from the factory. Features include AV3 three-point seat and shoulder harnesses (introduced mid-year), a C50 rear window defogger (blower type), D55 front compartment floor console, and U14 full instrumentation with tachometer and clock — with the 1972 speedometer reading 130 mph instead of the earlier 150 mph. It’s also equipped with a U63 AM push-button radio, the Z27 Super Sport package, and a Z87 deluxe interior. Finished in factory code 14 Pewter Silver, this SS stands as a rare and beautifully preserved example of classic American muscle.
